Merry Christmas, y'all!
For someone, like me, who is NOT into Christmas at all, it never ceases to amaze me how much I actually enjoy the day once it gets here.
My husband and I decided not to get each other gifts this year. Money has been very tight, and we decided to spend our money on the kids instead. However, he surprised me this morning with a beautiful bouquet and a lovely letter about what a great wife I am and how my presence in his life was "the greatest gift". I really almost cried (and I NEVER cry). I will keep that letter (along with a few petals from the flowers) forever and ever.
After 18 years of marriage, he can still surprise me. I love that.
The kids got a ton of cash from their grandparents. They're at that age.... they don't believe in Santa.... they're too old for toys... so what do you give them? The cold hard stuff. And BOY were they happy!
On a humorous note... I believe my mother is now a candidate for a hearing aid. My 13 year old son was trying to tell her that "beer was better than wine" (from a health perspective, which isn't true by the way) and she totally mis-heard him and announced "Beer can cure the blind?"
Hilarious.
Hope you and yours had a great Christmas.
Take a moment to remember the Person the day is about.
And here's some groovy music for your enjoyment (thanks to ChiTown Girl for turning me on to these guys.... I'm now in love with them!)

I Love Straight No Chaser...CHI turned me on to me as well.
I love hearing what your husband gave to you...you are very deserving of many gifts in this world. You know that...and it is nice to see HE knows it as well.
Tell J that I think Wine cures blindness and deafness.
what did you say? Oh, I can't see you anyway. need more wine.
The girls got giftcards and cash too...and a few goodies from Mom and Dad. The days of santa are over. :0
Merry Christmas, Suz
First, your husband ROCKS!!!! How freakin' sweet is he?!
Second, SNC rocks, too. I loved this video. Even in such an informal setting, they can really bring it! They're even cuter in their "street clothes" than when they perform in their suits. :)
ChiTown,
Those SNC boys are adorable! (If my daughter were about 10 years older, I'd be trying to arrange a date for her with one of them...)
We are in the 'just give cash' years too... we do the gifts we know she wants.. and everybody else gives the dough. She's out spending it right now. Your hubby did good! : )
I hear you on the hearing aid thing.
My MIL is CONSTANTLY misunderstanding what we say. Sometimes it is funny like this one...and sometimes is causes great strife in the Show household!
You don't get into Christmas? I would totally have never guessed that.
I'm glad your husband is such a keeper.
Happy holidays!
Very nice. BTW, I saw Straight No Chaser a couple of months ago and they are great live!
Merry Christmas,
John
You are so funny. Well, your son is really. Or your grandma : ) Whomever! I guess the whole family is just rip roaringly funny : ).
I love that your husband did that for you. I love him. How nice is that? Seriously.
Glad the kids had a great Christmas and got lots of cash : )
Jason, I love the real reason behind Christmas, and the celebration of Jesus' birth. What I HATE (with a passion) is the commercialization of Christmas, and how in-your-face the whole season has become... it drives me nuts!
