So.... Did Hugh Woo You Too?

If you watched the Oscars last night, did Hugh (Jackman) woo you?

I must say.... for me, D'Arcy, and Pumpkin Delight, this question is not fair, because we're all already SMITTEN with Hugh... but let me just say, I'm not even a FAN of musical theater, and yet I was clearly TRANSFIXED all evening by the Oscars (and of course, mesmerized by Hugh and all his charms...). :)

I liked the Oscars much more this year than in years past.
I liked the intimate way the presenters addressed the nominees... it made it much more personal.

What do you think?
Thumbs up?
Thumbs down?

Usually Coach and I go to an acutal oscar party. (a friend of ours is on the voting commitee) We opted to stay home this year and I really enjoyed watching in the comfort of my house. I thought he did good. Sorry, I am not as smitten w/ Hugh like you...but I did enjoy the show. I also dont' really care for muscials, but I liked them last night...."mama mia...here I go again"....(I am still singing that darn song today)
2 thumbs up.

I loved Hugh too although I didn't watch it last night due to the stomach bug. Gotta love DVR!!! I watched it this afternoon.

I thought the presenters addressing the nominees was so great too. One of my favorite parts.

Did I miss it or did Sean Penn forget to thank his wife Robyn? They were in divorce court a year ago so you would think that might be a big deal to remember. Just checking.

Much love from NJ,
Sue

Total hottie and very talented but the music montages made me want to puke. Just can't take those.

Sue,
You are correct. Sean Penn (Mr. Ego) did NOT mention his wife. However he did make grand political statements. (If I were his wife, I would have been MIGHTILY irritated by this...)

Personally, I really wanted Mickey Rourke to win. I LOVED The Wrestler. That movie made me cry. I thought his performance was intensely intimate and personal... a window into his soul, and I felt he deserved to win.

I'm not a Sean Penn fan. I think he's over-the-top self indulgent (most actors are, to a degree, but he REALLY is...)

But yes, I didn't hear a thank you go out to Robin Wright Penn either.

Martha, you are so right - Hugh is SMOKIN' HOT! :)

Watch out for those charming Aussies.

Hugh did a good job and is a class act.

Rarrr! I love him! However, I do prefer a slightly less groomed Hugh, but the accent always woos me. Overall I enjoyed the Oscars and I did like his musical numbers because they were funny. Plus, I watched him in the B. Walters after special and he just seems like such a nice guy. He lap danced B.W. and she was smitten. [purrs]

I didn't even watch... I am SO not cool. He is totally wooing me in that picture though. How stinking cute is he?

You already know my feelings about Hugh...did I mention the time that I got to hug him? No? Let me tell you all about it.....

I thought the exact same thing about SP, how could he NOT thank that beautiful woman next to him. She's so classy and stunning.

I was watching that show where 43 guys were driving cars making left hand turns. They were in Southern California too.
The only "jackman" I saw were the ones on the pit crews.

I thought the exact same thing as Sean was walking off the stage. Actually, when he said he wanted to thank his best friend, I assumed he was going to say Robin. Yesterday, though, on Oprah, she asked him the exact question, and he explained that he was trying to keep it business, not personal, because then he'd have had to thank his parents and his children, too. I didn't get it, but at least he explained what the hell he was thinking.

ChiTown,
I'm not buying it. It would have taken him less than 10 seconds to thank "my family, including my wife, children and parents"...

He chose instead to use substantial time to make his sweeping political statements.

He's always been a self-absorbed jerk, in my opinion.

But anyway.....

"We'll always have Hugh..." :)

I don't watch the award shows, usually, because they annoy me, but this year we had it on (with the sound off most of the time). I would listen if someone "interesting" came on the stage, and yes, Hugh is a lovely man. I also appreciated the way the former winners addressed the nominees; I hope they continue with that. That's the praise that I think matters: from those who have walked in your shoes. Thanks for asking!
