As many of you know, the Pontiac name is being phased out.... a sad result of the current economic climate.
One of my VERY favorite muscle cars - the Pontiac GTO - will soon be just a fond memory of the past.
So today's post is a tribute to this Way Cool Car.
Of course, a tribute to the GTO can hardly be complete without a reference to the movie "Dazed and Confused". If you haven't seen this movie, you really MUST. It's hilarious and will bring back great memories from high school (especially if you graduated in the 70's or 80's. Below is the trailer from this great movie. (An added bonus - this movie showcases the talent of some big names back before they were big: Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Ben Affleck, etc.)

How did I miss this movie? I must have been in a daze. I saw James Spader in there too!!!
I love these old cars...so sweet. Coach was looking into one a few years back...maybe again one day.
Suz, you MUST see this movie. Ron and I have watched it at least a dozen times. It's HILARIOUS. Matthew McConaughey plays "Wooderson".... back WAY before he was famous.... you'll love it. One of my favorite movies. I have it on DVD. And the soundtrack is awesome... Classic late 70's rock... Aerosmith, Kiss, Ted Nugent, etc. You and Coach will LOVE IT!
I missed it too, Girls. Matthew M. is too much ... My brother's GTO was a black convertible and I can't help but think of how we would put that huge 8 track in of the James Gang and roar down the highway. Thanks for bringing back a great memory!
You know what I think of when I hear the word Pontiac? Poor Old Negro Thinks It's A Cadillac. Yep! One of my little friends told me in 5th or 6th grade and every single time I see one I think of that. Crazy, right?
Have not seen that movie yeT!
Rebeckah,
I heard that SAME "acronym" for Pontiac when I was a young girl too.... so sad, isn't it?
