After spending 2+ hrs on the phone today with yet another of Dell's English-language-challenged customer service reps (and this same conversation has happened, in different iterations, multiple times over the past 15 years or so that I've owned PC's), I've come to that watershed moment:
Maybe it's just time to just get a Mac...
My college roommate, Chrissy, SWEARS by her Mac.
Whenever I'm bemoaning my latest issue with my PC, she just looks at me with that knowing (but slightly smug) smile, much like the one I give my son when he tries to convince me that he's POSITIVE that Megan Fox is really a "nice girl" just woefully misunderstood..... yeah, right.
So, I ask you, blogger buds..... PC or Mac?

I vote for PC
Hubs is a programmer and we own PC's.
I own a PC laptop, but I will NOT buy from DELL again. I would go to Costco, buy whatever they support, and then have the option to return it to Costco if there are problems. Dell is just awful.
Those who own Macs seem to love them, especially students and artists/photographers.
Good luck!
Mac, mac and mac.
Dell bites bit ol' sour pickles.
But I don't know anything about mac.
we do love our new gateway laptops. (3 of them)
**holding our breath**
Interesting how much the concensus is towards PC's..... AND against Dell! Perhaps I should let Michael Dell know that his company is failing (miserably!) at customer service!
Happy New Year Georgia peach! Have missed you so!
Mac or PC, doesn't matter to me. It is all in how you maintain them. Honestly. Every few months we defrag our computers, clean up the misc junk on our hard drive (unused applications, like stupid downloads you use once to view something and then never use again) and then check to see if we need to add more memory. Kind of like computer detox. It's essential no matter what you have.
Go to cnet.com and do some more research, that's my humble advice. If you like to use your computer for graphics, videos, pictures, and other high end computing, then definitely Mac. But, if you just use it for word processing, Internet browsing, light blogging, and general household needs, then stay with a PC. It's not worth it to shell out the extra cash if you won't use all the bells and whistles that come with a Mac.
I have an INSANE love affair with Costco. I completely agree with Karen. Buy it there and if any issues, deal with their customer reps. Their return/exchange policies are PHENOMENAL!
Hugs for the new year my friend! How are Ruby and Diva????
