The following is a VERY condensed version of the movie review given to me by my 5th grade daughter after she saw "Twilight" (with several friends, during a Friday night slumber party....).
Me: Hi honey - how was the movie?
S: OHMYGOSH Mom... it was like THE-BEST-MOVIE-EVER! I LOVE EDWARD!
Me: Wow. Sounds like it was really good. What was it about?
S: Well, Edward, he's like this vampire? And he is like SO cute, Mom. And Bella, she's like this girl in high school, and they like wind up falling in love, but like these other vampires are trying to get to her, and Edward has to protect her, and it's SO GOOD MOM!!! You HAVE to see it with me, ok? And I want Daddy to see it too, OK?
Me: Well.... I don't think your Daddy is going to sit through a movie about teenage vampires....
S: But it was SO GOOD! We have to BUY IT the day it comes out on DVD Mom, ok? Edward is SO CUTE, Mom.... I think he's EVEN cuter than NICK JONAS.
Me: (stunned silence... my daughter LOVES Nick Jones....)
Me: Well, does it have a happy ending?
S: Mmmm-hmmm, they go to prom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And there ya have it, folks. Not only is Edward cuter than Nick Jonas (which is a Major Coup in the life of a 5th grade girl), but the vampire GETS the girl and.... they go to prom.
Clearly Academy Award Winning stuff..... no doubt.
Oh so cute she is!!!!
OMG, Edward is SO like CUTE. I can see her now....
I actually just read the book myself, after the peer pressure of my daughter. The girls saw the movie and thought it did not live up to the book. So, I am going to skip it. Sometimes (most times) the book is better. Don't tell S I said that though. :)
I, like, totally loved the dialogue that you shared here. It's like, perfect for her age. The fact that you are appreciating it & enjoying her so much makes it sweet, indeed. God bless you.
So what I'm getting from this is that S thinks Edward is cute? Just want to make sure. It was hard to tell from your post.
sue and both my girls read the book(s) and went to see the movie. they all liked it - didn't have any complaints about the book vs the movie or anything like that....
I must say.... I didn't know who the actor who played "Edward" was until after S came home with her "gushing" little review. But since then, I've gotten on the web and seen a couple of little interviews with him, and he's quite a looker... I can see where tween girls, teen girls, AND their mothers can ALL be smitten by him. He's an equal-opportunity-sort-of-romeo.... :-)
seems likely that they will come out with a Twilight sequel pretty soon, there's a crazy lot of ticket sales at stake
