Twister in the ATL

We had an F2 tornado hit downtown Atlanta Friday night (you mighta heard....). Above is a picture of the storm as it moved in Friday night - this was posted by one of our local news stations on their website. Scary stuff.

What was truly amazing is there were NO fatalities, considering there were probably tens of thousands of people downtown at the time (Atlanta Hawks game was being played at Philips Arena; SEC Championship game was being played at the GA Dome; and there's always something going on at the Congress Center).

Friday's tornado was followed by a Saturday of back-to-back hellacious storms, one after the other, many with funnel clouds (unclear yet how many have been deemed "confirmed" tornadoes, but there were 2 fatalities with the Saturday storms). Hubster was out of town when all this happened (of course - isn't that always the way it seems to unfold?!), so the kids and I just hunkered down at home and prepared to do the mad dash with our dog to the basement which, thankfully, we never had to do. All we got at our house was some marble-sized hail, and one wigged-out dog.

Rough 24 hours though, to say the least... I'm happy it's over.
