I am taking today to count my blessings.
On the "balance sheet" of life, my blessings far far FAR outweigh the things that aren't right.
And I'm am so thankful to God for all the good things he has poured into my life.
Yes, we're still strapped for cash. No, I still don't have a full time job.
But I've decided focusing on THOSE negative things only magnifies them and makes me feel worse.
Focusing instead on all the stuff that is GOOD and RIGHT in my world makes me feel better.
So that's what I'm going to do.
One day at a time.
Starting now.

Very wise, my dear blogger buddy. God bless you as you give Him thanks and glory.
Oh I remember times when my children were young--and we didn't have enough cash to even buy groceries. We ate alot of beans and macaroni back then.. Thank God--life went on and things got better.. It's truly best to count your blessings instead of laying down and complaining. That very special job will come, HW.. Just be patient.
Hugs,
Betsy
Wonderful post. Where did you get that photo? So peaceful.
Just perfect my friend. We do have lots to be thankful for....I love this. Take care, Suz
KBL - I just search Google images from time to time for photos.... I think I searched on "woman in sunrise" or something like that.
It is pretty, isn't it?
Hope you, Ed and the puppies are doing well, my dear!
I love this. I've been trying to do the same. I have so much to be thankful for when so many people don't. Have you seen those little purple bracelets that were created by Will Bown for a Complaint Free World? Oprah had him on last year. If you can go for 3 weeks w/o complaining it will really change the way your mind thinks. You don't strike me as someone who complains though. :-)
I've yet to go 3 weeks w/o complaining but I'm still trying. You're supposed to wear the purple bracelet as a reminder. When you find yourself complaining, you're supposed to switch the bracelet to the other wrist until you can go for 3 weeks w/o doing so. The gentlemen also wrote a book about it. I read it in 2 hours.
I'm making your Mexican Crock Pot Chicken this week. I can't wait! Thanks again for the recipe.
Much love from NJ,
Sue

Sue,
You are such a sweetheart! I wish I could say I were the 'picture of serentiy and peace' all the time, but I'm not. It's a struggle. When finances are involved, it tends to "color" everything else. And, I tend to save up my complaints for my husband, bless his heart. I vent to him, and he patiently listens. He's a sweetheart.
I do like the idea of trying not to complain for 3 weeks though. Sounds similar to what a local pastor (Nathaniel Bronner) - did with the 40 Day Miracle (www.40day.com). That really changed some people's lives!
Beautiful post! I'm grateful for you and your sweet reminders. It's hard to see in the midst of it, but I bet what's stressful now will make so much sense when you look back on it. But of course, you know that already. Love you!
What a beautiful and meaningful post!
what a beautiful blog, such a peaceful picture too, i needed that today!
I think good things beget other good things. It's funny how at times as adults we talk of negative things without putting any effort into it. But to talk about the positive, we have to strain a bit.
Listing your gratitudes will strengthen your positive muscle. We all need to strengthen our positive muscles. Prospective employers like people with well toned positive muscles.
And isn't this the truth! You can't say it loudly enough.
PS I think YO BAD with your GREAT NEW ATTITUDE : ). Such a funny verification!
PSS I would like to look like that skinny girl sitting in the water.
If only we were closer and I was able to hug you.
Know how much I appreciate all that you have done for Marcell and I in our time of crisis.
It means so much to us.
I really hope things improve for you and I will continue the prayers for your family for as long as you need them.
Thank you so much for the prayers...
Hugs and kisses, my friend...♥♥
