Awe Inspiring Beauty and Mystery...

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." - Isaiah 55:8-9

To put the above in perspective, consider the following: astronomers have discovered that there are galaxies 12.3 billion light-years away from Earth. Consider further the fact that light traveling at 186,000 miles per second only takes 8 minutes to travel the 93 million miles between the sun and planet Earth. (Therefore sunlight is only eight minutes old when it reaches us.)
However, light from the furthest galaxy that we know of takes 12.3 billion years to get here.
(My little mind can't quite wrap itself around that; can yours?)

And yet GOD, the Author of it ALL, says that is the distance between His thoughts and our thoughts.

So, the next time you have big question marks about our God .... and just can't quite fathom His greatness, just let it go! Realize that our human brains simply cannot comprehend God!
This is where faith comes in...

And here's something that will make you smile: the next time you feel your human problems are far too big to even pray about, remind yourself that that God's greatness, magnificence and power surpasses your wildness imagination by at least 12.3 billion light years.

I think that's way cool.

I agree. Sometimes we forget just how "big" our dad is.

It is WAY cool and something I have been thinking about A LOT lately...I've had all these questions and then I wonder if I will ever find the answers . I have realized that, for now, I probably won't. I realize that God is going to work everything out for me if I have faith in him and work hard at living a good life.

However, I DO love to question. And I ask BIG questions and I LOVE hearing other peoples ideas and I have had a lot of people lately tell me not to think so much or question so much or realize that I can't understand it.

I think there is one more step we are missing here. While we might NOT be able to find the answers I think in our questions God CAN lead us to things and feelings that will make us feel OK about the NOT knowing. Does that make sense? It's that feeling of peace and for me, on some things, I don't have that yet, so I am going to keep questioning.

Yet, for some things, like the idea of Jesus, God cleared that up for me last week and in my life, I realize that I do believe in Jesus and I DO believe in Chrisianity. This is a BIG deal in my life!

Thanks for all your comments and support these past few months, you seriously got to know me at the time of most turmoil in my life! I'm usually much more calm and level headed!

D'Arcy,
I'm glad we're friends. (And no, I don't think it's a coincidence that we "met" each other when we did!) I also think it's good that you are honest about your 'seeking spirit'. That is, in my humble opinion, the only way for a true DEEP faith.

I wandered away from the church for many years and seeked high and seeked low (and in between) for TRUTH, only to find that it was exactly where I left it, in the Person of Jesus. The more you read about Jesus, and the more you study about Jesus, his life, the multiple prophecies that he fulfilled, his miracles, and of course, his resurrection, it will all "gel" for you. Really.

Several books come to mind that you might want to check into:
"Evidence that Demands a Verdict" and "More Than a Carpenter" both by Josh McDowell; "Mere Christianity" by Clive Staples Lewis; "Traveling Mercies" by Anne Lamott; "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel; and "Who Moved the Stone" by Frank Morison. There are many many other good ones as well, but these are all books that I read when I was on my quest.

Never apologize for your seeking spirit or your intellect - God GAVE that to you! It is my strong opinion that God wants us to enter freely and FULLY into relationship (not religion!) with him!

(Dang, I wish you lived near here.... you would so love my church....) :-)

Love you girl! :-)

These are helpful reminders, and the picture is lovely. Thanks for sharing this universal perspective...we think our minds can do a lot, but they really ARE small, when you put it in this light. Many things will not be answered here, with the evidence available. God bless you.

I love you! That is just what I needed to hear and you are so awesome to know that! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your kind words, just when I needed them, during a very rough time. We are doing fine here at home and I am feeling so much better. My boyfriend hurts and he's frustrated, but we are working through it all. xoxo.
