Have you guys noticed that we're SURROUNDED by bad news lately? It seems to be pressing in on all sides, doesn't it?
I tried escaping it by crawling into bed and pulling my flannel sheets up over my head. It was nice for about 5 minutes and then I remembered I was a "grown up" and needed to come out of hiding and deal with LIFE. (Darn.)
So, to follow that, here are some great quotes to keep us all optimistic during this difficult time:
“I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”
“May the love hidden deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter that you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays.”
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
“Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can't be done.”
“What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise”
“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”

Amen, Sister. God bless you!
Those are all great quotes.
Really, even if you are an adult it is ok to crawl into bed every once in a while...I try to do it as much as I can. I love my bed. And it is very comforting to me.
:)
I am avoiding all news and newspapers. This works for me.
There is nothing I can do right now for the economy except keep buying groceries and gas. That's it.
Suz,
This is true... however, even getting gas in Atlanta is a challenge. I was running on fumes this morning after dropping J off at school (he had to make up a test... normally he takes the bus). Anyway, I had to go to 5 different gas stations before I found one that even HAD gas. And then there was a 20 minute line for gas... and there was a $20 ration. (Basically, 5 gallons of regular.)
But you ARE right about bed being comforting. I'm thinking of having a 2:30 PM conference call with my pillow..... ;-)
Great post. Another one I like is this: "All suffering is caused by attachment. Let it go." It's soothing somehow.
Stacy,
That is a great truth..... we forget the great IMPERMANENCE that we humans have. (Of course, our souls are permanent, but these human vessels certainly aren't.) We're all just 'visitors' and need to remember that. 100 years from now, we'll all be gone .... we need to put more emphasis on Eternal Things, rather than temporal things.
Excellent point!
I also have been doing less news lately. And thinking positive thoughts.
The flip side of this is that I've also started listening to blues music like Mississippi John Hurt. Paradoxically, this seems to put me in a better mood.
I can always count on you for some happy stuff. Hence, your blog name.
happy wife
My latest post is on "news" and all its negativity.
Your blog is part of my news and is always a place of inspiration.
Thank you happy wife.
thanks. I needed these today.
Since I almost quit my job yesterday, I really did need this. Long story. But I may need a new occupation soon.
However, I am trying today to make a new ending...
thanks friend!
Mountain dew is bad for you. how about that for bad news.
