Snuggie Sighting at the Mall...

Not long ago, when S., her BFF, my good friend Dawn, and her 2 daughters went to see "Twilight", we happened upon a couple eating their lunch in the food court at the Mall of Georgia.

Normally this would not be a blog-worthy event, however, this otherwise nondescript couple was eating their meal while wearing matching Black Snuggies.

They looked like Scientology bigwigs, trying to dine incognito.

Either that, or they happened to stop for a bite to eat, while on their way to DragonCon. (Seriously, have you seen the folks at DragonCon? Atlanta hosts this event every year.... and these people are VERY serious about their SciFi stuff.....)

Anyway, I really wanted to take out my cell phone and (stealthily) take a photo of the said Snuggy-wearing couple (who were quietly eating their Chick-Fil-A's) but I thought if they saw me, they would surely pull out their light sabres and smite me dead.

Simply too great a risk, my blogging friends....

What's with all this snuggie talk latley??? Karyn at Pretty in the City has a beef with snuggies and well you know Wrigley really wants one. I wonder if what you saw was a Snuggie imitator. I don't think the original Snuggies come in black. They make Burgundy, Royal Blue and Sage Green. (I only know this because of the infomercial that plays 26 times a day!)

I think you actually witnessed real live Cult members roaming around town!

Smiley,
I REALLY wanted to take a photo of these 2.... after all, it's not Every Day that you see 2 people eating in a mall food court wearing black snuggies... but there was no way I could have done it discreetly.

It was very funny.

And tell Wrigs that I think he would look VERY debonair in the Sage Green Snuggie... it would set off his golden locks beautifully.

after being inundated with those silly snuggie commercials for the last 6 weeks or so, it's amazing that someone would actually wear one out in public!!! i got such a kick of out how they portrayed a regular lap blanket! those ads were funny......

That is so weird. Don't they know to keep those things at home???
We joke about them here when we see them on the tv...."I'm gonna get you one of those"..."No, I'm gonna get YOU one of those".....
Never have I seen the Dragon people. what the hey?

Don,
My favorite part on the ad is when they're at the "sporting event"... it makes me crack up every time!

I think soon the Snuggie will achieve cult status simply due to the bizarre ads!

Holy crap, that's funny! I too love how the commercials show regular blankets. It's slipping! It's sliding! There aren't any sleeves!!

Okay, let me catch up. I live up here in the hicks and we are a little behind-the-times.

What is a snuggie?

Deron,
A Snuggie is a very humorous "blanket with sleeves" that is sold on TV. Here's a link to the YouTube ad:

(They make you look like a monk, wizard, or Tom Cruise when he's performing his Scientologist indoctrination duties.)

That is just great! The commercial makes me laugh everytime, and I always wonder who buys those. Now I know!

There is a Mennonite church near my community that has nothing but black cars in their parking lot on Sunday morning. Could it be that these folks with a lack of fashion sense are wearing the snuggie marked for the Mennonite community? "Order thee one before the morrow."

I'm going to now dress like my mate...when I get one....and we will wear something awful, like Spongebob T-shirts, just for the reactions.

D'Arcy.... have I ever told you about my husband's collection of SpongeBob t-shirts?? I'm being totally serious. He has about 5 or 6 of them. He even wore one (on purpose) when he got his DRIVERS LICENSE picture taken. (Drivers lic. are good for 10 years in GA, so that picture will be haunting him until his early 50's!!!)

it's too bad the Snuggie has that drafty, hospital gown thing going for it... it would be better if it wrapped around all the way
