The Story of Stuff

Great video. Definitely worth watching (with an open mind....)
I'd say we Americans (definitely ME!) have been lulled into a sense of "blind entitlement" for far too long. In the long run it's unsustainable, and irresponsible.

This is great. Seriously, I did not mention it in my Christmas rant, but this is another reason why I want to veto gifts. We all have to much stuff. It has to end sometime cause all our stuff/ junk ends up in our earth. Did you see the 60 minutes on Sunday. It was focused on the E-Waste. (electronic waste) It is just horrible what all the computer screens, old cd's, tv's etc...do to the planet when they are just dumped.
So great you are posting this. :)

I wish I could say it was an "original thought", but I plagiarzied the idea from Boquinha (Sushin & Pizza) and D'Arcy (Abstraction) was going to put it on her blog too. It is an uncomfortable video to watch, because it flies in the face of what we Americans all LOVE (stuff, more stuff, bigger and better STUFF!) and I am guilty of it too! But it has to end. We really have to all, collectively, step up to the plate and say "Enough." If we don't, we're leaving a horrible, horrible mess for our children and our grandchildren to deal with.

Suz, you should post it too. Seriously. People read your blog who don't read mine. This is how this message gets around....

yep, i assigned it to my students as homework. it was awesome. some of them agreed, some of them didn't, but they all thought.

D'Arcy - that's the key - "they all thought".

I think much of the MESS our country is in (from all angles) could have been avoided if people simply had taken the time to THINK about the consequences of their actions, before they acted....
