I had two FANTASTIC candidates go out on interviews this week. One was interviewing for a sales position with a large well known brokerage, and one was interviewing for an Account Management position with a large well known brokerage.
Both candidates are really top top top quality.
And today, I got two calls. Both were "passed over".
It's tough out there right now.
Lots of people are out of work.
The economy stinks (listening, Sen. Gramm??? It's really NOT an imaginary thing contrived by whiners.....)
I'm (momentarily) discouraged. If these two candidates didn't get picked, times are a bit tougher than I thought.

Yeah, I agree. The top 1% are doing great but everyone else is SCREWED.
There is a already a governmental plan in place that will cut my salary by 1/3 over the next 10 years.
And I'm absolutely exhausted but have to keep working to pay the bills and keep the health insurance (which may or may not cover me when I get transplanted).
I need a different line of work, headhunter. Any hints?
BTW, did you know there are also pathology recruiting agents out there. I get these nice letters from them from time to time. They can sure make a bad job opportunity look good.

This is really crappy news.... I am sorry to hear it.
I am a "chronic optimist", as I've said before. I do get down from time to time, but I always bobble back up (I guess I'm a Weeble!)
Things WILL get better. American ingenuity is very much alive and well and will see us through this downturn, as it has seen us through every other downturn. Things WILL look up! Just remember the incredible power of your mind and your thoughts.... read N.V. Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking" - great book - or Joyce Meyer's "Battlefield of the Mind". And, there's my perennial favorite "Think and Grow Rich" . Although we can't control what happens in our economy (or in our world for that matter), we can control how we react to them.
PS: I did not know there are pathology recruiters, but it doesn't surprise me... there are recruiters for every conceivable professional field imaginable!
