So, I decided yesterday that I really SHOULD go up to the drivers license place and get a new photo license.....
Of course, I was busy yesterday so I just ran in there thinking "this won't take any time".
HA!
I was there forever (luckily I brought a book).
And have you ever noticed the people who work at the drivers license office are NOT very happy with their lot in life??? Just a little aside there...
Anyway, I should have considered my appearance before I went in there. (I was wearing my typical I-work-from-home-and-want-to-be-comfortable "uniform": old concert t-shirt - this time it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers - shorts, flip flops, hair back in a ponytail and NO makeup. )
When they finally called me, they clicked my picture (didn't give me a countdown or tell me to smile, so I have this lovely blank stare on my face).... and my eyes look supernaturally hollow (I guess from the lighting).
So, the whole premise behind "let's get a photo that looks more like the CURRENT me" has really backfired. My husband and kids all burst into laughter when they saw the new ID photo. (Hubster is the one who said I look like a hollow eyed meth addict in the photo..... and, I gotta admit, he's right. )
I think I may have to "lose" this one on purpose. Whoops. :-)

I wonder if they have a special screening for Driver's License employees the world over; they sound as if they are all alike!
I totally "get" the photo problem you experienced; I never wear makeup if I know I'm staying at home all day, but am at a point where PERHAPS I look better with a touch of eyeshadow, mascara, etc. To have a photo taken after a long wait, with no warning words, seems like a mean kind of joke played by bored DOL workers! SO sorry about that; is this their way of saying
"Happy Birthday" to you? When is the day?
God bless you.
Oh, how horrible.
I bet it is better than you think....well maybe not.
Yes, you may need a redo since it will stick with you for a long while.
My first 2 pictures here in FL looked so good I used to joke that I would bring the whole family down for holiday pictures. Not so much anymore. :(
Karen - my birthday is 8/31 - rapidly approaching! (EEK!)
Suz - I'm really not exaggerating - this is probably the single worst picture I've ever taken. It looks like I should be holding up my prison ID number beneath my chin.

Yes, I have noticed that. And dreaded it. It reminds me of the staff at the VA hospital where I worked during residency. They have a secure job, good benefits, guaranteed clientele...so why worry about being nice?
One thing I do know is that if we do eventually get universal government healthcare, people are going to be a lot grumpier. Unfortunately, that may be a price we have to pay...the current system isn't working too well, either.
I wonder if they do retakes? Just kidding, but I know I've wished that before. You have to go to the line where they take your picture smiling or they'll definitely get you at their worst.
You know, come to think of it, maybe it's because they are NOT happy with the lot in life. They hate their jobs. They take it out on us. Can't believe I never thought of that before now.
