A Late Evening Project (After a Glass of Wine...)

So anyway, last night, after a glass of wine, and after the kids went to bed, I decided it would be just a Great Idea to completely clean out and reorganize the entire laundry room. (We've lived in this house for 8 years and the laundry room has NEVER been cleaned out or reorganized....)
Needless to say, I found some pretty icky, lint-covered stuff in there. I found cat collars belonging to our long-deceased sweet felines, Jasmine & Mortimer. (Meow. Miss them.) And Chloe's old leather collar, with her dog ID tag still attached (made my eyes water.... she was our beautiful Black Lab... very much our "first child".... we got her shortly after we were married. She passed away in 2005.)

I also found the source of the mysterious rancid sour smell in the laundry room .... a beach towel that had slipped off the back of the washing machine (still damp of course) and was nearing petri-dish status from the rapidly multiplying mildew.... as my Minnesota mother would say: "ISH".

However, after a sweaty couple of hours cleaning, hauling out trash, etc., it's sparkling clean, super organized and smells like CLEAN LAUNDRY in there!

Project one (on the kids-are-back-in-school-let's-get-stuff-done list is COMPLETE!)

Yes, I live a Very Exciting Life. :-)

I love the feeling after accomplishing something as little as that. It seems to make life easier though, when organized.
I have issues with this....still fighting through the need to keep all my ducks in a row. (a perfectly spaced row)

Holy Cow! I look at my laundry room. I WANT to do that. But I don't. Mostly I don't have time. (Which is clearly why I have time to blog.)

But congratulations on such an accomplishment!

wow, good for you! atta girl!

I have somehow warped into this person that just wants to lay around and read during her last week of summer. And, since I keep using that as a pitiful excuse to not do anything, my house is a mess!

Oh well, at least the characters I am READING about seem to be clean and motivated!!

Don - if hubby wouldn't fall sound asleep on the COUCH every single night, then he might become one of my "evening projects"!! :-)

D'Arcy, your house is NOT a mess!! Just yesterday, I was admiring the flowers, books, etc. in your house! It's lovely! And you have every right to relax and enjoy your last week or two of Summer. Don't your DARE harrass yourself over that, little missy!

Kia ora HWHL,
For some reason you have always reminded me a bit of my sister in your writing. I mean that in the kindest possible way, as she is lovely in all respects.
Your laundry room exercise is EXACTLY something she would do after a glass of wine or two. Kia ora for putting a smile on my face.
Rangimarie,
Robb

Robb,
I will take this as a compliment!
So, thank you. :-)
And I'm glad my "rambling on the mundane" put a smile on your face!

I guess I was a little like Don, expecting some fireworks from the catchy title.

Must be a guy thing.

My wife loves late evening projects of the kind you're writing about. She really gets going at about 10 p.m.
