Don't you know who made everything?
Haven't you heard about him?
The Lord is the God who lives forever.
He created everything on earth.
He won't become worn out or get tired.
No one will ever know how great his understanding is.
He gives strength to those who are tired.
He gives power to those who are weak.
Even young people become worn out and get tired.
Even the best of them trip and fall.
But those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength.
They will fly as high as eagles.
They will run and not get tired.
They will walk and not grow weak.
-Isiaiah 40: 28-31, NIrV

I've always liked this passage. Had it all memorized at one time.
BTW, what's the NIrV?
It's the NIV version, but "more friendly for readers".... called the New International Readers Version. You can find info on it on www.biblegateway.com - I think it's similar to Eugene Peterson's The Message in that it tries to make the Word more accessible to people who otherwise might find it somewhat daunting, or be put off by certain ecclesiastical terms.
Personally, I use the NIV, although I really love The Message.
Any new transplant news? I guess you probably won't hear anything new until you get The Call...
Thank you for posting this photo and verse. I copied it and sent it to a caringbridge friend (www.caringbridge.org/visit/carriemaniscalco) who loves this verse and can use a bit of encouragement now.
Blessings to you.
ahhh... one of my favorite promises :)
Me too! :-)
I love when I actually understand something Isaiah is saying...I've been raised on the King James Version of the bible, maybe I need to take a look at this one!
D'Arcy - the KJV is beautiful, from a very poetic standpoint, but from an "accessibility" standpoint, I'd suggest either the NIV or The Message (or the NIrV). All are great.
Glad you liked the passage! I always find it very encouraging, especially when I feel 'overwhelmed by life'...
I love Isaiah. It's such a wonderful book with endless themes of forgiveness, freedom, grace... 51:3 is my life verse. I was introduced to it recently at a Beth Moore study called Breaking Free. What a journey that was. I can still remember the title of one week... Beauty from Ashes. aaahh...
Sugar, I love Beth Moore! She is the best! My mom gave me her book on John - "The Beloved Disciple" - recently. I can't wait to read it. Her writing is just wonderful.
