Oh my gosh. I would have never guessed that someone would do this. Poor kids have not got a clue. the parents did a poor job.

It's heartbreaking. I feel so sorry for the babies - they haven't even been born and already they've been dealt such a lousy "hand" to play.

It's a really sad story.

I wonder what in their lives made these girls believe that there was nothing else for them?

I was a teen mom. I was 18... technically an adult... but still so young. I was crushed that fall when all of my friends went to college and I was left behind. I knew what I was missing, but I still had dreams and hope for the future.

These girls don't sound like they have much hope at all. They purposely cut themselves off from future opportunities. But then, maybe they didn't feel worthy of those opportunities. Maybe they thought those dreams, those other lives were for other girls. "Better" girls.

That's the saddest part of all.

Sugar,
I had 3 close friends that all had "surprise" pregnancies in their teens. Like you, they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and did what it took to give themselves and their babies a good life. They are all success stories.

However, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said these girls in Gloucester don't see themselves as being "worthy" or "good enough" so this is what they have done to fill the void that exists in their lives.
I hope that, eventually, they will see that they (and only they) are the captain of their respective ships and will need to Step Up And Steer. Let's hope so, if only for the sake of those little babies that will be born in just a few months....
